Master Fic, Fanvid, and Poetry List

Okay, so I started with just a master fic list, but then I decided to trash that and have a list of just all the "creative" stuff I have posted on my LJ, including fandom things (fics and fanvids) and personal works (poetry). Hopefully, this time the idea works. :)

Kingdom Hearts - Axel

Glitter is my new mortal enemy

and it kind of blows.

Seriously, I have glitter LINING MY EYE. How did this happen??? Please, someone let me know. Thank you.

Also, I'm proud that I have a reason to allow my Axel icon to resurface. The new KH game is pretty good so far, even if I have seen people eating ice cream so many times that I have no idea how they fit into their uniforms. Axel laying the smackdown on Roxas after insulting Demyx was pretty amazing, and very unexpected.

Oh, and I plan to write more soon. For real this time, if anyone is interested. :) Fics are on the way! More Supernatural vids, too. I adore that show.

Poem: Pella in June

Scribbled this out in a hurry on the way home. Another Alexander the Great poem, but I'm rather happy with the way this one turned out.

Pella in June

Father scopes the sunrise
Red gold and radiant
Proudly observes
Factions of pure fire
Tamed and called to heel
Helios’ golden hounds
Harnessed in molten
Stripes of glaring leather

He dreams in decadence
A king conquering the gods
But truly
A boy attempting with
High hopes
To disabuse the notion
That he’s too small to play

Mother glares upon the sunrise
Taunting with its splendor
Casting out the drab shadows
The black lepers of the years
And calling, coaxing
A mute mountain maid
To dance for Dionysus

She reminds with regality
Of promises procured
Blood boiled and
Silkenly spilt
A witch
Rich ruby robes
Covering the soul
Encased with a spurned heart

I blink at the sunrise

I posses no such
Inner monologue

It is already mine

Alexander - Colin Farrell

Hectic is the Word

I feel bad. I haven't rambled about anything personal on here for a great deal of time.

Life has been ridiculously busy at the moment. School has once again begun, but I'm looking forward to the year. Over the summer, I've managed to carve out a new outlook on life, and it makes everything a lot easier to bear. My classes are basic studies at the moment, nothing that I really desire to learn, but that's alright. Information is useful no matter what it is, right?

I've also unfortunately got the college hunt to bear. SATs, SAT subject tests, college visits, still keeping a decent GPA. Oh man, it's like climbing a never ending hill. It's utterly vile, that's what it is. Utterly and completely and horribly VILE.

Good news though. I'm about halfway through Paradise Lost, and to my joyous surprise, I really am enjoying it. It's the first Non-Alexander piece of literature I've really picked up since last spring, so I was a little apprehensive. But, the entire thing is glorious right now, even though there are minute pickings that I have here and there. I'll probably end up posting a blabby review when I finish the entire book.

Ah well. I really feel like I should write some fanfiction, since I haven't in a long while. I've been very drawn to fanvids lately. I definitely owe some Justice League. :( Soon, I promise!

Poem: Croatoan

I love history, but not American. I still enjoy it, but not as much as Greek, Roman, Macedonian, French, or really any other. I have my own reasons for it, but despite them, I still always enjoyed the Croatoan story of Roanoke. A name left behind after nothing else. I don't know why, but there's an appeal. This isn't based on that event, but it was influenced by how it ended.

Croatoan

Years of bloodied dirt and grime
Staining skin as if in crime
Washed away to hide the past
For the name is all that lasts

Bruises faded from purple to green
So few even remember what they mean
Covered away to hide the past
So the name is all that lasts

Shadowed eyes of fractured hues
Painted with sleek black and blue
Brushed away to hide the past
And let the name be all that lasts

Poem: When the Selfish Receive the Selfless

I wrote this one...in health class, months and months ago.  If I remember correctly, it was also written in light blue pen. I can't explain why that seems to matter, but I feel it does.

When the Selfish Receive the Selfless

He is willing to fall for you
Can’t you see his worshipping eyes
The faintest tremor of glossy wings
The regretful shudder when he flies

He’s counting down his days for you
As they trickle out to one
He sits in his blank room alone
While you fear, while you run

He’s bleeding on the fields for you
Silver hilt burned in his hand
Blood spilling from his ears
To fill the earth and save the land

He lifts his head, and he’s saving you
Scouring away your charcoal soul
Your guardian angel fell for you
So you could live warm and whole

Interview with a Vampire - Claudia

Poem: To Be Frank Over Foolhardy

I wrote this one to get out of my first person addiction and to try a new rhyme scheme I don't usually touch. I'm not sure if it's as smooth as I'd like.

To Be Frank Over Foolhardy

For those of you that speak of love
The beating heart and fluttering dove
The blessing of the heavens above
I suggest you calm your tongue

Dear love itself is so rarely true
Yet for it pain and blood ensue
Until black retribution is due
So in its name necks are wrung

Yet this phase will likely not last long
And is not worth Orpheus’ song
Accompanied by the funeral gong
Very quickly a life is done

But if this love beats with the heart
Races within and through every part
And there is no end from the start
Then sweet caution is your guide

Keep your passion within the gate
Obey Patience, the joy to wait
Don’t drink it all at an alarming rate
Or there will be cold at your side

If you rush without the wings to fly
On the pyre your body will lie
And Love loves to suck men dry
So dear time, I urge you to bide

Ominous words, yes, but honest they
Warn so dark night bows to day
So poor men can survive to say
Whether love is true or a lie

Poem: Who Wrote Revelations Anyway?

I think this one came from the petulant child in me, who's a little tired of everyone telling her how hopeless we all are. :)

Who Wrote Revelations Anyway?

I’m tired of your prophecies
This twisted addiction to fate
This reliance on “blessed” cards
With every choice too late

I’m fed up with your endless preaching
Your black book with silver scrawl
The empty oh so haunted tone
Coming from your crystal ball

Because there’s your twist of magic
So very pretty with its awe
And then there’s what you really trust
What you tasted, touched, and saw

You can live in your dark delusions
Where it all ends with blood
Go on with your black predictions
Call your locusts, call your floods

Set the devils on my heels
Have the angels smite me down
Leave me at the tempting desert
In old Satan’s kind of town

Watchmen - The Comedian

Watchmen Director's Cut: Oh my, oh my

Thank you Powers That Be, thank you so very much. I needed this so much.

Here's how my day began. I was awoken at eight by my darling sister, who had the oddest notion that today would be a fabulous beach day. Upon opening the curtains, I revealed the dreadful cloudiness known as reality, and a sneaky trip to Weather.com only announced the solidity of such a fact. My adorable sibling then decided we must take a trek to the park, and so off we rode. Of course, once we stepped out the door the sheer mugginess of the mid-morning was horribly suffocating, and after walking for a short period of fifteen minutes, we scrambled back into the air-conditioning like the utter babies that we are.

The small escapade then decided to become a grand adventure. Not only did we get lost, we managed to get lost four times, a new record for both of us, I believe. It was, altogether, a somewhat horrid experience, only lessened by the fact that both my sister and I were relative good sports through the whole thing. We also had my sister's little Disney CD in the car, to keep us entertained. There's nothing like trying to find your way through streets with barely any signs and having "Go the Distance" blasting.

However, we did decide to make a quick video store run, since I wanted to find this Colin Farrell movie I had heard about. With my luck, it of course wasn't there, but what did I see walking in?

Watchmen: The Director's Cut.

Do I even need to say it...SCORE!!!!!

Then we rushed home, and after sitting through "Revolutionary Road" (which is a rather good movie in its own right), I finally got to pop in my long awaited film.

I loved all the things that were added, but first I need to gush about how absolutely weird it was to watch it on my little computer screen. I saw it about three times in theaters, and I'm so used to it being huge and loud and larger than life. It took me at least a half an hour just to get used to the way I was watching it.

Most of the new stuff was a collection of little things. Scenes had a few more lines, they were extended a few seconds, but then there were the whole changes. We received more of Laurie after Dr. Manhattan went to Mars, and oh my gosh, Hollis Mason's death. I had to pause it and race out of the room for a minute. Broke my heart, no lie.

Everything was so much better paced, it felt. All these small pieces that I had been missing, or hadn't even realized I'd been yearning for, suddenly appeared and glued all the lonely pieces together. Fabulous, amazing. I'm so grateful that today happened.

Really, the best word for it all is just: YAY!

Interview with a Vampire - Claudia

Poem: Revelation

I think the book of Revelations inspired this one...I did write it a while ago :)

Revelation

Fire and brimstone
The warnings for centuries
Carved ashen pavement
Overflowing with the white wash
Of molten bones

Orange sky fogged
With acid clouds
Heaving poison sobs
Happily scathing the dry land
That has already faded itself
To dust

Houses sit deserted
Wailing in wanton need
Their magnificent misery wasted
On an audience covering its ears

Yet those flying
Floating above the debris
The mounds of lonely rotting souls
Remember
A different time

Their tears fall
Memories for the burnt
The charred and the blistered
Cool and sweet
And unmistakably holy

And those below
The sightless and loveless
The grotesque and gloriless
Lift back their heavy heads
Release their thick bruised tongues
And pray

But as the tears touch
So selfless and sparkling
The festering skin
Instead of healing
Helping the hopeless
The tears boil

They sear and the crowd shrivels
Dries and decomposes
And the pitiful scatter
For there is no hope for these beings
Anymore

Poem: If a God and a Man are One and the Same

I think I mentioned a while ago that I would post all my poetry here, but I suppose I sort of lied since I haven't done so. Of course, a perfect way of breaking this horrible habit is by posting my newest; an eight page long monster dipped in history and so many allusions that my usual editor needed a full explanation. :)

If a God and a Man are One and the Same

You look down
Blinding, bright down
Where you command the light
That golden, glorious fool
To sparkle in splendor
To squash the surreptitious shadows
Under a chariot
That happily killed a son

The world does not change often
Youthful years pass
Elderly eons rot after
But the people still cry
Moan and tear out their grown hair
For pity and sacrifice
Still devour meat and blood
Still dance in pleasure around fires
To claim all for you

Today she trembles
Her mountains quake with
Ferocious fear and
Terrible trepidation
With striking awe and
Undeniable jealousy
With incredible love
As you order the sun to fly
And the boy wails for the first time

Alexander - Alexander and Olympias

Birthdays and Work days

So the 20th was Alexander the Great's birthday. I wonder what it means that I actually managed to get some of my history-hating family to remember and even slightly celebrate it. Although, in my newest book, I also read that the 26th is a possible birthday for the man, so I might get them to celebrate on that day as well ;) I just need to investigate the validity of the claim.

This was also the week I started working for the summer, which has somewhat darkened my mood. Back to getting up early and barely sleeping, glaring at the clock for moving so slow and begging the big hand to hit the right number. Oh well, in a way I welcome it, since sitting in sluggish lassitude has never really been for me anyway.

I did get to make an Alexander wallpaper manipulation while allowing my students to work though. :)

This is really the only time I've had lately to just chill for a moment. Life is so horrible and hectic right now. Is it any wonder I'm escaping into my books? Damn, I'm so grateful to them. Random note, I also read today that Alexander was very talented in music, but his father told him he should've been ashamed of having a beautiful singing voice. The text said that Alexander never sang again. I haven't researched enough, or compared it to my other information, to tell if that fact is true, but from what I know of his character, it does at least sound probable. The story breaks my heart a little, to be honest.

Oh, and I think I'm on my...third Alexander book. I completely finished two, and I'm about 1/8 through this one. I have another full biography in my pile, and another one by Plutarch, I believe. So that'll make five. I also have Fire from Heaven for historical fictional Alexander reading (very excited!), which I've been taking snipits of lately (it's right next to my chair now), and I have about 5 books on Alexander on my Amazon "need to have/saved for later" list. My ultimate goal is to get every book on him that is possible to purchase, so I can make the fairest account on his life and who he is, and just to have as much information as possible to get the clearest and most factual record. I really wish that I was able to take another course of world history next year, though one on Greek and Roman culture would be my dream. Oh well, one of these days I pray that it'll come around.

This man is taking over my life. Oh dear.

Alexander ~ A Great Rant

My copy of "Alexander Revisited" finally came in the mail a few days ago. I've been awaiting its arrival very impatiently, and with a great deal of fear.

I cannot really accurately express what Alexander the Great means to me. Once I came upon the discovery of who he really was, he's a constant source of inspiration and hope, faith in what one person can accomplish in a very short lifetime. We all eventually stumble upon our heroes, and Alexander of Macedon ended up being mine.

Alexander - Colin Farrell

Oh Summer, how I loathe thee...

Most everyone I know is probably jumping for joy right now. I mean, sure the sky is raining and it's super muggy. Sure, the sun is barely shining and the mood is dark and dreary. It's summer, dang it, and that's all you need.

I don't really like the season though. I prefer the cold, and the insect-less seasons. I find more inspiration in the red and yellow leaves then in the budding flowers. It's just a personal preference, nothing more.

Also, summer leads to the worst kind of lethargy. I keep looking around, trying to find my school-books to study for exams, my notes for pop quizzes, except I don't need to anymore. I really enjoying learning, so when it all comes to a stop, it's kind of jerking.

Plus, I'm rather annoyed with myself. Supernatural has greedily taken over my life. The show is just so dang fascinating. It has ever element of an amazing show, and I'm so surprised I never watched it before. Fabulous acting, interesting and well-spun plots...I'm just so ecstatic that I found it.

Except I need to find a show balance here. Some Supernatural, then go write Clex. A little Dean and Castiel fic, then go write the Batflash. But since it's summer and the show is so shiny and new, I just end up lounging like a lazy cow and getting nothing productive done. Gr.

Soon though, soon. I'll get out the next Batflash chapter, and I'll finish all those Clex oneshots. Really, I will. ;)

Lex Luthor Picspam!

Well, it's been mentioned that Lex deserves a little pimpin' up, so I raced through my randomly snagged pictures folder and found some of Lex of which I'm rather fond. This is relatively short and quaint, so maybe I'll do something longer later. Enjoy  :) Oh, and sorry to the world for the lack of lj cut here. Thing hates me, and I'll fiddle with it later.

(Just for credit. I've picked these pics up from different sources, but I'm pretty sure a majority came from screencap-paradise.com, just to let people know and to be fair etc)

This Way to the Fabulous Pictures! )
Okay, here's a random shot. Poor Martha looking so worn out in the back. This picture just calls to me for some reason. Maybe it's the rich purple of the shirt against the black jacket, which is a favorite combination of mine. Maybe it's just because I love watching Martha and Lex interact. :)

I still think Tempest was a pretty good episode. I really liked watching Lex going from helpless to planning, in control, and prepared, as he should be. The blue shirt is really nice too. ;)

Pics at the Luthor Mansion/Manor/Castle/Retreat? are always some of my favorites. I love the way the lighting falls, and as a backdrop, it can be stellar. I just liike the sort of ease of this shot. Just Lex talking to his best friend...who, you know, is hyped up on Kryptonite crack, but whatever. ;)

I just really like the warm, dream-like feeling of the lighting here.

Enter this picture just for sheer nostalgia. I think the scene goes...Lex is about to get axed, but he managed to get one foot loose and kick before completely falling over and knocking himself out? Something like that? I remember just clapping in the sheer awesomeness of, "Yes, Lex! Save yourself!" to "Oh, come on!"

Plus, seeing shots of Lex vulnerable always touch me, especially since he's such a...concealing character, I suppose? Also because he's such a strong character, it just kind of stings.

(And is that duct tape...purple?)

Remember how I gushed earlier about the backdrops at the Luthor Hideaway? I love all of these shots. Lex leaning above the banister is just great, and I wish I knew what all those books on his shelves are. Also, I love the contrasts in the other pictures of the red and pinks in the windows to Lex's shirt, as well as his fabulous expressions in these pictures. I think they are some of my favorite pictures, overall.

Okay, I haven't even gotten to see this episode yet. But I just love this picture. Ignoring the actual plot of the episode that I know (Zod taking over Lex's body etc), just the shot feels so striking and symbolic. Lex, fallen, with a kryptonian symbol burned into his hand. Damn.

Haven't gotten to see this episode either, but the history geek in me loves this shot. Yay!

I'm a big fan of when black and white is done well. Sometimes it can just look cheap, and other times it can come across as really classy. These pics show one of those better times, and Lex just looks so fabulously fun and different here. :)
